Kevin "KayR" Ramberran's first musical endeavors were comedic ones. Together with two other close friends he began writing and producing comedy tracks. The more time Kevin spent working on trying to make the duo's songs sound professional, the better he got at producing. After the first few tracks Kevin became the main writing force behind the comedic trio and his vocabulary proved an asset to the writing. After high school Kevin found himself heavily involved in the Theatrical Arts. Little did Kevin know that this new found hobby would be such an asset to his musical tendencies. He was eventually commissioned to compose music for a play that he was acting in. This was the first professional musical project Kevin had done and it went off without a hitch. Then Kevin was commissioned by a festival of plays to do sound and music work and once again performed well. As his confidence grew in his abilities he began to look online for remix competitions. He spotted the opportunity to remix a song with Snoop Dogg and KiD CuDi called "That Tree". Kevin was never into drugs but created a beat that he was really happy with and then realized that he had to fill the second verse. Unsure that he could do it with composition he performed the first serious hip-hop verse he'd ever written under the pseudonym "KayR". Though the track placed around 600 out of 1500 contestants, the name stuck and KayR went on to record his first full solo track entitled "Skyline Mirages" over one of his own beats. Finding inspiration in the lyrical prowess of rappers like Eminem and the mainstream appeal of musicians like Kanye West and KiD CuDi, he started to work towards creating a mixtape. This decision came shortly after discovering a community of artists online called Shadowville where KayR took his first crack at collaborations and quickly began to garner some praise and criticism. Six solo mixtapes, one collaborative mixtape countless other collaborations later KayR has developed into a fully formed hip-hop artist. In between working as a producer and ghostwriting for some other artists, KayR has found time to work on yet another mixtape and has just released his debut album, "The Audition Tape".
